How Transjordan became the independent Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on 25 May 1946.

In 1921 Prince Abdullah bin al-Hussein, son of Sharif Hussein, established the Emirate of Transjordan under British mandate. On 25 May 1946 the mandate ended and the country became the independent Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, with Abdullah proclaimed its first King.
