Beidha: The Neolithic Village

Beidha: a 9,000-year-old Neolithic village near Little Petra, older than Petra itself.

Beidha, a few kilometres from Little Petra, preserves the stone footings of a Neolithic village inhabited around 7,000 BC — among the oldest known settlements in the region, with circular houses and a sophisticated communal plan.

It is covered by the Jordan Pass. Travellers who hire car & driver in Jordan stop here on the way to Wadi Rum, and full package tours to Jordan include it for archaeology fans.
